London’s Dulwich Picture Gallery is a bit of a schlepp. Thirty minutes by train from Victoria Station and a further 15-minute walk, it is one of those lovely destination jewel boxes worth the trip.
I was alone for ten minutes with the two Guido Reni masterpieces I had made the journey to see: San Sebastián and Saint John the Baptist.
I was further rewarded with a room filled with Poussin masterworks, and one of the most beautifully colored pieces by the master of Venetian color, Tiepolo.
If you like Renaissance and Baroque Italian painting (and I do) put this remote reward on your list.
