Function
Grounded in history, crafted for comfort
Roger’s work has always stood apart because of his concentrated attention to the lessons of design history.
In what he calls his “rewirement” — after leaving Wynn — he focuses more closely than ever on the specifics. Roger grounds every object he designs in both history and practicalities.

Updated classic forms for Quintus.
Lasting grace, modern lines for Quintus.
Forty-plus years in hospitality design have left their mark. Commercial goals align surprisingly well with what works at a personal level. When Roger thinks about dining chairs, he thinks about lingering over long dinners with stimulating company — whether the setting is a grand restaurant or your own dining table. “After hours of extended conversations a guest should still feel at ease.”

Intersecting details.
Varying the angle.
When designing a modernist line of bathroom fittings, Roger says he spent a lot of time exploring the geometry of each piece. “It was fascinating to see how the slightest variation of an angle or almost indiscernible detail of an intersection could completely change the personality of the collection as a whole.”
Perfecting the bed for Quintus.
He has furnished literally thousands of bedrooms and suites. “I’ve been on a lifetime quest for the perfect bed,” he says. A recent design for Quintus wraps its occupants in opulence, but also provides thoughtful touches within reach, like concealed charging points and a suede-lined nest for a mobile phone.
