I fly to China at midnight. I thought I would share some of my favorite images from the Forbidden City. Details that speak to the endless ingenuity, elegance and artistry of this remarkable Imperial compound.
While it is the sheer scale of the Palace that most impresses, it is the richness in colors, textures, surfaces, and rhythms that capture my attention, admiration and delight.
I imagine Marco Polo’s absolute wonder as he was the first European to experience the exotic riches of these extraordinary artists.
