The present conversing with the past

Artisans over the centuries perfected forms that Roger continues to reference, sometimes playfully, in lighting, accessories, fabrics and furniture.

Appropriate form directs the focus to the quality of the work, the beauty of the materials, and the vibrance of the colors. “The work is always informed by history,” Roger says. “For me, that keeps things classic and timeless, never limited in their appeal.”

Chairs? Nothing better than the French Baroque. As Roger once explained to The New Yorker: “The artisans at the French court really found the ideal luxury seat... When you sit in an authentic Jacob chair you are sitting in one of the most comfortable pieces of furniture ever made. It’s a divine experience.”

Roger‘s Seine dining chairs for Global Views adapt the classic form, with a beautiful box frame and carved detailing echoing the elegant lines of their original 18th century great, great, great, grandparents. “The sweeping curve of the arm is completely simplified, now very sleek and totally modern.”

Styled for Rocky Mountain Hardware.

Roger‘s Flute collection for Rocky Mountain Hardware drew on the elaborate fluting of Corinthian columns in ancient Greece. His Paris line applies motifs from historical styles of 17th- and 18th-century France.
