Prizes from the county fair

In Travels and events by Roger Thomas

Arthur, my dearest friend Artist Ruth Marten and I did a July 4th tour of the Marin County Fair.
The visuals ranged from the assault of the pure and prurient plastic of carnival kitsch, through the exquisite subtlety of prize-winning fowl feathers to the masterful elegance and transforming scale of ancient Bonsai trees, some more than 100 years old.
The finale was the unbuckled delight of a bubble master’s performance causing sheer audience glee.
